JindaLee Lehmann – Featured Canadian Artist

You may notice I’ve expanded our Featured Artist category to include Canadian artists. And our first Canadian artist is JindaLee. She’s got a great vibe and a passion for music that is awesome. I may or may not have gone to a punk rock concert with her and a group of friends in the middle of nowhere once. But that’s a different story. JindaLee is currently running an indiegogo campaign, Rise and Drift Tour. So if you like what you read (and hear, check out the music videos at the end of this interview) pop on over and throw some support her way. 🙂 And if you walk away from this post craving more amazing northern artists, don’t blame me, blame Canada. 😉

Jessy Ribordy of The River Empires – Featured Northwest Artist

I have yet to meet featured artist Jessy Ribordy, but his creative talent precedes him. Part of several bands and musical groups (The River Empires, Falling Up, and The Gloomcatcher), he also writes, dabbles in art, and I’m sure many other creative outlets I have yet to hear of. Also part of the recording studio Osiander you can probably guess he is a busy man. So it was great that he took some time out to answer our questionnaire. Read on.

Nick Lambert of Northern Abbey – Featured Northwest Artist

Nick Lambert is not only a musician, he is also a musical producer. In the interest of full disclosure I should tell you that Nick Lambert is related to me. Through marriage. And no, I don’t have to compliment him because we’re related. You can listen to his music and decide for yourself. (It’s good.) His most recent solo album is fantastic. It sounds like it should be the soundtrack to an awesome movie. It’s called Northern Abbey and it’s well worth your time to take a listen. 🙂 He’s also involved in three other bands. Read on to find out more about this very busy fellow.

Obsession Sessions: Rap

If I’m going to be fair, I have to credit Kreayshawn for reigniting my interest in this current obsession.

I was perusing Adam’s GQ (which I tend to read much more than he does) and flipped onto this article about the petite youtube rap sensation. Maybe I’m getting old. Maybe I’m just out of touch.(Hours locked up in a room in front of a computer writing will do that to you.) But I hadn’t even heard of this girl. So, of course, Continue reading

Petra’s Favorites from 2011

Although 2011 was a fairly lean year for us, I still managed to find a few fabulous things that I would love to share with you. (And while some of the things on this list were not newly introduced this year, they are new to me.)

I love this Kimbra video. The imagery is fantastic. And the song is fun too.
