Manly Hero Kirkus Review Published!

Manly Hero

Our Kirkus Review was published yesterday! And we really like these two lines. 🙂

“Rood nicely imagines this fantasy world, and the story’s banter and wordplay are consistently witty…A fun fairy-tale fantasy that should please fans of William Goldman’s The Princess Bride.” — Kirkus Reviews

Manly Hero Book 2 Update

writing is an adventure

So, you’re probably wondering if those ‘crazy, tea-drinking, author people’ are going to be finishing Manly Hero book two ever????

And we don’t blame you. It has been a longer process than we first anticipated as well.

But fear not, Adventurers…

…The Short of It: We are still working on book 2 and hope to release it… as soon as it is finished. 😉

…The Long of It: If you are still reading and want to know why we are taking our sweet ass time to finish this story, well, here you go. Simply put, and not so simply lived, this is our first series. We took on a rather big process — what we always knew would be a five or six book series —for our first publication(s). And, because we’re picky and invested, the time up until now has been spent in a mixture of writing and outlining the entire story. We don’t want to drop any of our story threads or lead you astray. Hence, we’re taking the time to make this story as fun, cohesive, and understandably twisty as possible.

So, a big thank you to all of you who are still out there recommending Book 1, and waiting for and showing interest in Manly Hero book two. We are very excited about finishing it. And we are very excited to let you read it.

Manly Hero in Paperback! (and other news)

Do Manly proud and enjoy a good cup of tea while reading. :)

Do Manly proud and enjoy a good cup of tea while reading. 🙂

It’s finally here! The real, page edges can cut you, paper edition of our book! 🙂 And I’m pretty excited about it. Of course, last year I was also very excited about the ebook version of it being finished, but there is something about having a physical copy of it. Manly Hero, my book, sitting on my shelf, reminding me daily of both what I have accomplished and why I need to keep working on book two. That magic makes the paperback copy special. So, if you too are a lover of paperback books, check it out here.

In other news, you may notice in the next few days that the name of our blog is changing. This is just us trying to clean up all our social media and make it easier to use and keep track of. We’ve decided to use our pen name for our social media. So, Adrastus Rood will be the name of this blog, our twitter account, and our facebook page. (We’ve still got the Manly Hero facebook page up and running as well.) We’re also hoping that this is the year we fancy up our websites. But, with as busy as we’ve been, I’m not holding my breath. 😉

Lastly, we’ve got a new writing project that we are going to announce in the new year. Very excited about it. More info to come soon.

A Real Book

I have been waiting for this since I was a teenager. That’s almost two decades. And while I’ve only been working on this particular project for two-ish years, I can’t believe I am actually holding a real live book in my hands. One that I was part of writing!  Manly Hero book one. I can’t quite explain my excitement. And here it sits on our shelf. 🙂

I know it has been available on kindleSmashwords, and iBooks for a while now, but the actual physical book is definitely a thrill for me. And while it is only the proof copy and I have a few weeks of editing ahead of me, I am so excited! And I can’t wait for it to be available to everyone else. (Which of course I will post about.) 🙂
